无气味。溶于水,微溶于热乙醇,不溶于乙醚。水溶液呈酸性。218℃时熔结,225℃时成固态。一氧化氮合成酶底物,能转换为瓜氨酸和NO。靠一种依赖于NO的机制诱导胰岛素分泌。

应用

L-精氨酸单盐酸盐已被用于研究氨基酸在促进果蝇(Drosophila melanogaster)食物消耗中的作用。它还被用于开发大鼠的非侵入性慢性胰腺炎模型。
